Hi Cory,
Thanks very much for the detailed tutorials on how to set up Cubase and Vepro with a main machine and server. I have a query re my intended set up, on which ( I hope ) you might air an opinion…
I purchased an HP ProLiant DL360 Gen 7 server with 2 Xeon 5675 ( 6 core ) running at 3.06 Ghz and 128 GB DDR3. I intend to use this as my slave machine.
However, I wish to use my HP XW 8400 with 2 Xeon 5355 ( Quad core ) running at 2.66 Ghz and 32 GB DDR2 as my main machine (running Win 10 Pro).
Do you think that this would be a half decent combination or would I, in your opinion, need to upgrade the master machine?
My ultimate aim is to be able to produce a significant number of audio tracks as well as virtual instruments via midi using Cubase 10, a plethora of hardware synths and samplers as well as mics for tracking.
At present, I’m running Cubase 10 on an old Compaq dx 2400 Core Duo with 8 GB ram and the HP XW 8400 as a slave, but find that the audio track count is quite paltry and I can only get away with using about 7 or 8 VI’s before glitching.
Any thoughts you have would be well appreciated.
